Hi everyone! Hope you all had an amazing Halloween. :)
Today marks the 4 year anniversary of Reese's cancer diagnosis and this post is in recognition of change and growth taking time. It not only takes time, but it can take us in many different directions. We don't always know where we will end up or the what the path will be along the way; and sometimes it's the journey itself and not the destination that matters.
When it comes to Reese and his journey, there is no destination as he continues to make strides (literally) and we never know when or where the path will lead him. One thing is for sure...he is still the same loving Reese, and since his surgery on 11/2/18, he has gone from a hospital bed (not able to open his eyes) to walking around the house for short distances. Everyday, he gets stronger...in fact, just this week Reese walked into the Livingroom, bent down and picked up his clothes and walked to put them in the hamper all on his own!
It's also really important to point out Caden's journey during this time as his world has been turned upside down. He's had to grapple with being passed off between Tisha and I for over a year while Reese received treatment. His best friend Owen passed away from an aggressive form of brain cancer DIPG and he still talks about him often. (https://www.dipg.org/dipg-facts/what-is-dipg/) Caden recently started attending a youth program for siblings of cancer. It has given him an opportunity/outlet to discuss the emotional toll the experience has had on him.
Lastly, Reese and Caden recently launched their own website to sell handmade crafts.
www.silerscrafts.com gives the boys an opportunity to learn about economics, business, web design etc. Please check it out! More items will be added as soon as they are done!
Thank you all for being on this journey with us. We see some of you daily and some of you less often, but the fact remains that when we do see you it's hard not to express our heartfelt gratitude for your love and support for Reese and Caden. We are blessed you are in our lives. Thank you Thank you Thank you.
I work at Julian and I love seeing Reese in the hallway (he has few classes by my office on the 2nd floor). He was also SUCH a trooper last week when the elevator broke. He always has a huge smile on his face!
Love you all!!!
